NEW PARISH PRIEST APPOINTED TO MUCKNO
In mid-August 2010 it was announced that Bishop Liam MacDaid had appointed Fr Pat McHugh, Western Theological Institute, Galway, to be Parish Priest of Muckno from 1 September 2010 in succession to Canon John McCabe, who was also appointed Parish Priest of Roslea from that date.
Fr McHugh is a native of the parish of Ederney on the Fermanagh-Donegal border. He was ordained to the Priesthood on 17 June 1979. Following a number of years as a teacher in St Macartan’s College in Monaghan, he worked as a curate in the parish of Kilmore & Drumsnat (Corcaghan-Threemilehouse) and for short periods in Scotshouse and Clones parishes.
He was Director of Human Formation at Wonersh Seminary in Surrey, England and later at the Royal College of St Alban's in Valladolid, Spain before lecturing in the Western Theological Institute in Galway and Knock.He was later to be Director of the Western Theological Institute.
Fr Pat is also well known in GAA circles; he was Development Officer of Monaghan Co Board for a number of years during the 1980s and also held a County Board position in Fermanagh for a time.
